2009 Annual Meeting -- Thank You!

Last Friday, Rural Action held our 2009 Annual Meeting. The event was a great success, with over 150 people gathering at the Eclipse Company Store to support sustainable development in Appalachian Ohio, as well as listen to our keynote address from Wes Jackson of The Land Institute in Salina, Kansas.

Below is a letter from our event coordinator Calaina Goodyear to thank everyone who came out, helped out, and volunteered to make the event such a success:

I want to give sincere thanks to everyone who helped out for this year’s Annual Meeting. I was pleasantly surprised at how many people came out this year to support Rural Action and see Wes Jackson speak. Thanks to everyone who helped us to spread the word – we’re very grateful for all of the help that you’ve given us. Thanks to Robin Webb at the Eclipse Company Store for helping us work out all of the details for the event! There are so many people to recognize for their contributions to the event:
  • Thanks to everyone who donated their delicious desserts to the reception. The food was a great hit – there was hardly anything leftover!

  • Libby, Susan, Christa, Howard, and Brandon: Thanks for helping to set up before the meeting, and clean up afterwards. Volunteers like you make events like these run smoothly!

  • Rose, Jordan, Clay, Tori, Sarah, Heather, and Suzanne: Thank you so much for also helping out with the cleaning and set-up.

  • Congratulations again to our Sustainability Award winners: Chris Chmiel, Jay and Annie Warmke, Philip Cantino, and Lyda Gunter.

  • Scott, Michelle, Mary Anne, Shana, and Travis: Rural Action is very lucky to have all of you on the board. Thanks so much for making the meeting run smoothly. It was really great to see everyone work together for such a great event.
And last, but certainly not least, thank you to Wes Jackson for taking the time out of his busy schedule to come and share his knowledge and vision. The 2009 Annual Meeting was a tremendous success – and we thank all of you again for your staunch support.
