Thanks to the Appalachian Studies Association!

Scholarships from ASA Help VISTAs Attend Conference

Rural Action sends a big thanks out to the Appalachian Studies Association (ASA) for their decision to award scholarships to three of our AmeriCorps VISTAs. Brian Blair, Suzanne Fisher, and Susi Rankis were all given the chance to attend the annual ASA Conference in Portsmouth, Ohio this past weekend (March 27 - 29) free of charge. While at the conference, they had the opportunity to learn more about the rich history and cultural traditions of Appalachia - as well as meet people and network with organizations from across our region. As previously reported, our executive director Michelle Decker was also a presenter at the conference.

We wanted to express our gratitude to ASA for their generosity in giving these three volunteers the chance to better appreciate the area that they are serving in.
