Trimble Land Lab Litter Pick-Up

The Trimble Land Lab is getting geared up for its grand opening on the April 22, and as part of the efforts to clean it up Sunday Creek is holding a litter pick-up. This event is being featured as the Project of the Week at Ohio University’s Center for Community Service. Volunteers will attend a brief presentation on Rural Action, and then work for three hours at the Land Lab.

Any and all help is welcome to help turn an illegal trash dumpsite into the official entrance of the Land Lab – bags and gloves will be provided. If you plan on attending, please contact Brian Blair (brian@ruralaction.org).

Workshop for Women Landowners

Growing Healthy Food Systems from the Ground Up

This April, the Central Appalachian Network (CAN) is hosting a gathering of food producers, associations, networks coordinators, intermediaries, and agencies to focus on sustainable agriculture practices that accelerate the development of local and healthy food systems. This will be a hands-on, best-practice sharing event with lots of discussion and roundtables. The goal is to build on the work of those who attend, provide an opportunity to share what others know, and begin looking for ways to strengthen collaborations.

Huff Run Rain Garden Presentation

Following the meeting, the Tuscarawas Soil & Water Conservation District will be giving a presentation on the benefits of “rain gardens” – planted depressions that capture stormwater and help prevent run-off.
