Woody Biomass Workshop

Rural Action’s Sustainable Forestry Program, in partnership with the National Association of Conservation Districts, is hosting a one-day workshop on utilizing woody biomass heating sources for schools and public facilities. Confirmed speakers include Dr. Zander Evans from The Forest Guild, Matt Bumgardner from the U.S. Forest Service, Lew McCreery from the U.S. Forest Service, Gary Wilson from Wayne National Forest, and Dale Arnold from the Ohio Farm Bureau.

7th Annual Walk for the Homeless

Sponsored by Good Works, this event is held each year to raise awareness concerning poverty and homelessness, and to raise funds for Timothy House – the only homeless shelter serving nine counties in Southeast Ohio. Environmental Explorers’ Club

This month at EEC we will be learning about “Life in the Arctic.” Topics will include different arctic animals, all about glaciers, and how our actions affect wildlife in the arctic. Games and crafts are planned and a snack will be provided! All ages 6-13 are welcome to attend.

Small Ruminant Production School
January 27 – February 24

Athens County Extension Office

A 5-week ruminant production school for sheep and goat producers will be held this winter. Sponsored by OSU Extension, Athens County, and the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association, those enrolled will learn skills and strategies to improve production and profitability.
