Event: Fall Solar Tour

Location: Athens & Amesville

Date: Saturday, October 4

Time: 12:00 PM – 5:45 PM

Description: Green Energy Ohio, Dovetail Solar and Wind, and Third Sun Solar and Wind Power will be hosting the Fall Solar Tour in Southeast Ohio as part of a statewide program to highlight renewable energy solutions in Ohio. The tour will showcase many sites in the Athens and Amesville areas, including businesses, offices, and homes, that have incorporated energy efficiency and alternative energy sources into their design.

Event: Huff Run Elected Officials Tour

Location: Flute’s Park, Mineral, OH

Date: Friday, October 10

Time: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Description: Huff Run will be hosting a tour of the watershed for elected officials, which will include a visit to the Belden Project. The tour is being funded by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA).

Event: Integration Acres Farm Tour

Description: The Ohio Ecological Farm & Food Association (OEFFA) will be sponsoring a tour of Integration Acres, the farm of Chris Chmiel and Michelle Gorman, which will highlight permaculture and forestry products.

Event: Wayne National Forest Seed Collection

Location: Wayne National Forest Headquarters (Route 33)

Date: Saturday, October 11

Time: Meet at 9:00 AM

Description: Wayne National Forest Headquarters will be hosting a seed collection, which will then be used in restoration projects in their forests.

Event: OEFFA Athens Chapter Meeting

Location: King Family Farm (3940 Factory Road, Albany)

Date: Sunday, October 12

Time: 4:00 PM

Description: The Athens chapter of the Ohio Ecological Food & Farm Association (OEFFA) will be holding a meeting to tour King Family Farm and highlight their quality produce, and sound livestock practices. Following the tour, there will be a potluck dinner.

Event: Federal Valley Streamside Buffer Tour

Location: Amesville Elementary

Description: This streamside tour will focus on the economic and environmental benefits of buffers in ecosystems. The tour will feature talks from guest speakers, including Neal Dix from Shade Winery, Mary Ann Westendorff from Amesville Sewer System, and Jerry Iles from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
