Monday Creek Says Goodbye to Rebecca Black
By Mike Steinmaus, Coordinator of Monday Creek Restoration Project

Rebecca Black, long-time member and former Assistant Coordinator of the Monday Creek Restoration Project (MCRP), bid farewell to the watershed group last week. She has accepted a position with the US Army Corps of Engineers in Huntington, West Virginia, and, although we at Rural Action are pleased to see her further her professional career, we will miss her expertise throughout the organization.

Over the past seven years, Rebecca Black has been a part of the Monday Creek team. She began volunteering with (MCRP) during the summer of 2000, after which time she applied for, and was accepted, as a part-time Water Quality Team Leader was responsible for water quality sampling and data recording. Rebecca developed, and wrote, the current Acid Mine Drainage Abatement and Treatment Plan in 2005, and contributed significantly to the development of the Monday Creek management plan in 2006.

Rebecca has always been on hand to support Rural Action fundraisers and other events in the organization. She is also widely respected by all of our partners and peers for her knowledge, diligence and dependability.

We thank Rebecca for all she has done for Rural Action, and wish her the best of luck at her new job.
