Sunday, August 10:

Youth Act presents the opening of their downtown Glouster youth art show on High Street. All Rural Action members are encouraged to come out for this grand opening, which will include street music. For more information, please contact Leo DeLuca or Christine Far (740.767.4938).

Tuesday, August 12:

A Local Food Summit, hosted by ACEnet and funded by the Kellogg Foundation, will be held at ARTS West (132 W. State Street) between 8:30 AM and 3:30 PM. This will be an excellent opportunity for networking and discussion about local food economies. The event will be free of charge.

If you or your group, project, farm, business, agency, or organization would like to set up a booth, information table, or screen a video in the Food Commons (downstairs) please contact Leslie Schaller (740.592.3854) or email her at leslies@acenetworks.org by Monday, August 11.

The Summit is also looking for donations of food for breakfast and lunch.

The Rural Action Book Club is currently devouring Silent Spring by Rachel Carson. They will meet to discuss their readings at 7 PM, at the home of VISTA Leader Tori Patterson. All those interested in the book club, please contact Tori Patterson (740.767.4938).

Sunday, August 17: (Volunteer Opportunity)

The Mineral City Party in the Park will be held between 1 PM and 8 PM today. The Huff Run Watershed Group will be sponsoring a 5K race at this event. In addition to this, they will also be hosting activities like a craft table, and an AMD tie-dye station. If anyone is interested in volunteering, please contact Amber Leasure-Earnhardt (330.859.1050).
