The Ohio Chile Pepper Festival will be taking place during the day in Glouster, offering family fun, music, and a pepper-eating contest for the brave of heart (and stomach).

(Volunteer Opportunity) Thursday, August 7:

There will be a Plant Rescue open to the public on August 7th. Participants will meet at the Wayne National Forest Headquarters, on Route 33 West between Athens and Nelsonville at 9 AM. Rescued plants will be used at the headquarters, as well as the Governors Heritage Garden. Some plants may also be taken home by individuals. Contact Tom Redfern (740.767.4938) for more information.

Friday & Saturday, August 8 – 9:

Little Cities of Black Diamonds will be holding an event titled, "Agents of Change: The Pioneering Roles of the Miners of the Little Cities of Black Diamonds in the Nation's Early Labor Movement." It is a two-day learning experience and discussion at the secret birthplace of the United Miner Workers of America, Robinson's Cave in New Straitsville.
