2% Solution Webcast, LIVE 8PM EASTERN
Focus the Nation will stream a free, live, interactive webcast called The 2% SOLUTION. Join Stanford University climate scientist Stephen Schneider, sustainability expert Hunter Lovins and green jobs pioneer Van Jones and youth climate leaders, for a discussion of global warming solutions. Audiences can weigh in with cell phone voting. Our goal is 10,000 screenings ­and a change in the course of history.The local site to view the program is Baker University Center Front Room sponsored by the Student Sierra Club.

Tuesday, February 5:
A special presentation regarding the surface mining permit process in the state of Ohio by David Clark, Manager of South Region of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Mineral Resources Management, 7:00 p.m. at the Logan-Hocking Library, 230 East Main Street, Logan. Clark’s presentation will include a discussion of the state laws that regulate surface mining in Ohio, with a focus on surface mining activities in Southeast Ohio in or near waterways. **Volunteer Opportunity!**
Community Food Initiatives, a local non-profit, is seeking volunteers to help bag up seeds for the 2008 Free Seed Give Away project on Thursday, February 14, 9-1:30 p.m. at the Rural Action office in Trimble. Volunteers will help put pre-packaged seeds into larger bags. Volunteers, in exchange for their time, will be able to take home as many seeds as they want. Saturday, February 16- Sunday, February 17:
Coming Home to Eat: 29th Annual Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) Conference in Granville, Ohio. The conference will include nearly 50 workshops, locally sourced food, a kids’ conference, child care for the littlest ones, a trade show, Saturday night dance. Ohio River Valley Farm Marketing Conference, Holiday Inn & Roberts Convention Centre (123 Gano Road) in Wilmington, OH. Leading agricultural professionals and stakeholders from Kentucky, Ohio, & Indiana have organized the Ohio River Valley Farm Marketing Conference (ORVFMC). The conference offers valuable and affordable presentations, workshops, and discussions, focused on agricultural marketing. It is a great opportunity for people who want to learn more about farmers’ markets.
