Goodbye Party for Huff Run AmeriCorps*VISTA

Show your appreciation for Terri Sponaugle-Schrock, the Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership's outgoing AmeriCorps*VISTA member, at a going away lunch this Friday. Lunch at the Sunnyside Store costs between $5 and $10; it's known for having all local fresh meats, cheeses, veggies and fruit. More information: call Maureen at 330-859-1050.

Monday Creek Watershed Day Camp
July 18 – 20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., New Straitsville Park, New Straitsville
Cost: $15; scholarships are available

Kids, come explore with us!

Monday Creek Watershed is offering an exciting three-day camp filled with nature, games, bugs and fun. During this educational camp, children ages nine to 14 will explore Monday Creek and learn about acid mine drainage and healthy and unhealthy ecosystems.

Transportation to and from camp, plus early drop-off and late pickup may be arranged. More information: 740-394-2047.

Sunday Creek Summer Day Camps
Join us this summer for three days of educational fun in Sunday Creek! Campers learn about local water ecology, pollution, and the environment. The day camp is for kids aged 9-13. The camp will be held August 8-10 in Glouster. For more details or for registration materials for the camps, click here. Be sure to register soon, as the day camps are popular and might fill up!

The Annual Sunday Creek Watershed Group Burr Oak Celebration
Wednesday, July 26, 6 p.m., Burr Oak Lake Beach

Bring your swim suits, your family, a canoe, your fishing pole and a dessert! The Sunday Creek Watershed Group will provide burgers and hot dogs (with vegetarian options), various side dishes, drinks, and a canoe. This party is to celebrate all that the Sunday Creek Watershed Group and all of you have accomplished this year. It is also a going away celebration for Elizabeth Kruse, Sunday Creek's outgoing AmeriCorps*VISTA member, and a welcoming for our new VISTA member, Emily!

Huff Run Photo Contest Entries Due July 28

Start snapping pictures: entries to the Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership’s annual photo contest are due July 28. All photographs must be taken within the Huff Run watershed. See complete contest rules by clicking here.

Huff Run 5K and Fun Day
August 20, 5 p.m., Mineral City Park on State Route 800

Mark your calendars now for the Huff Run 5K and Fun Day, a benefit for the Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership. Registration forms for the 5K can be found on the Huff Run website. Entry fees: $10 for individuals; $20 for families; $50 for teams. Awards will be given to overall winners and placing racers in each age category. First 40 participants to register get a free t-shirt!

The Fun Day will take place from 1 to 8 p.m. at the Mineral City Park. The day will include games, crafts, water quality demos and an Environmental Explorer meeting. Photo Contest winners will be announced.
