As Rural Action celebrates National Black History Month we would like to honor an Albany native who did much for this region many moons ago.

Thomas Jefferson Furguson was a co-founder of the Ohio Colored Teacher's Association, member of the Albany City Council and the first African-American person to serve on a jury in Athens County, to name but a few of his accomplishments.
