Entrepreneur Networking Lunch

Video Proceeds Benefit Rural Action

An award-winning documentary on the beginnings of Wayne National Forest, narrated by Rural Action member Ora Anderson, will be screened on the following days:
Sept. 29 – Wells Library, Albany, 7 p.m.
Sept. 30 – Nelsonville Public Library, 6 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Oct. 3 – Glouster Public Library, 11 a.m.
Oct. 6 – Glouster Public Library, 6:30 p.m.

Rural Action Parades into Town
Did you miss the local superheroes, Watershed Man and Watershed Woman, the last time they were in town? Have no fear; we have arranged to bring them back, just for you, our valued members. They will be at the Indian Mounds Festival Parade this Sunday, October 2, in The Plains. The parade starts at 2:00 p.m., so don’t miss out.

A Night at the Opera House
On October 6, Stuart's Opera House presents Wayne "The Train" Hancock, an exciting and versatile musician who plays his own authentic and original blend of honky tonk, western swing, blues and big band that he calls "juke joint swing." Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door.

Golf Scramble
Rural Appalachian Housing Development is having its first golf scramble on October 8 at the Forest Hills golf course. Cash, prizes, and a Chinese auction will be part of the fun. For more information contact Kathy at 767-2005.

Sustainability Festival
The fifth annual Sustainability Festival will be held at the Athens County Fairgrounds, West Union Street in Athens, October 8 and 9. The Festival includes EarthWalk, live music, demonstrations, workshops, vendors, and informational booths. For more information, click here.

Huff Run Watershed Tour
Join the Huff Run Watershed Restoration Partnership on October 14 for a tour of their watershed! Meet at the Mineral City United Methodist Church at 11:30 a.m. for a FREE lunch and a short introduction. A charter bus will pick us up at 1:00 p.m. for the tour. Please RSVP by October 7, 2005. Monday Creek Watershed Tour
Monday Creek Restoration Project will be hosting a watershed tour Saturday, October 15. The tour will start at 9 a.m. at the Monday Creek office in New Straitsville and will continue on to visit a reclaimed gob pile and subsidence, the Jobs Doser (one of only two dosers in Ohio), and Lost Run for hands-on water-quality monitoring. The day will conclude with a lunch at Dunkle Hall in New Straitsville. VISTA alumni who are in town to attend the picnic are welcome to attend the tour and will have plenty of time to return to Athens for the festivities.
